Ring Care
If you have purchased a wood ring, or received one as part of the Made for Glory podcast, below are some tips on how to care for your ring and get the most life out of its finish.
Care & Use
Avoid wearing your ring when doing things that could dent the wood or damage its finish. This could be when working with metal-handled tools, cleaning with harsh chemicals or abrasives, doing heavy lifting, or playing sports. Also, remove your ring to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer or nail polish remover as these can affect the ring’s finish.
Contact With Water
Your wood ring is encapsulated in a hard waterproof finish, yet it is recommended that you avoid prolonged contact with water. While it is safe to wash your hands with your ring, you should avoid wearing it when swimming, washing dishes, or showering and bathing.
Temperature
Extreme changes in temperature can be stressful on wood. Avoid leaving your ring in a vehicle on extremely high or low-temperature days.
Refinish
Though I use a durable finish for my rings, any wood in constant contact with skin will need refinishing over time. If your ring needs refinishing within the first year after you receive it, I will gladly refinish it for you free of charge. For any refinishing afterward, there will be a small fee that is dependent on the state of the ring and how much is required to get it back to its original condition.
Replacement
If your ring comes apart or becomes damaged beyond repair through normal wear and use, I will replace it free of charge. Simply send the damaged ring back to me and I’ll get started on making your replacement. If the ring was damaged beyond repair due to improper use, then a new ring will need to be purchased.
Sending Rings via Mail
When sending rings to me for refinishing or replacement, avoid using an envelope. I have seen rings stolen when sent to me this way. I will not be responsible for rings stolen in the mail.
