The Mission

Christ Life Art was started by me, local Oklahoma City artist Shawn Collins, as a way to use what I create to point people to Jesus. My mission is to encourage faith, by cultivating a deeper love of God, through a wider view of his glory. I seek to answer this call through two avenues. The proclamation of God’s word through Visual Exhortation and the sharing of testimony through the Made for Glory podcast.

Visual Exhortation

My art has aim, it has a mission, and my creating is ministry. I believe God has physically gifted me with the ability to create and has spiritually gifted me in exhortation. So I want to proclaim Christ with what I create! I fell the most inline with my calling when I’m speaking, sharing, and urging people to look to Christ through my artwork. This is why I call my art Visual Exhortation.

Visual: relating to seeing or sight.

Exhortation: an address or communication emphatically urging someone to do something.

I want my art to help people love, cherish, value, trust, and praise Jesus Christ. I want my work to hang on someone’s wall and when they walk by it, it speaks out to them with encouragement and reminders of Christ’s work in their lives.

To better couple my art with proclamation, at the beginning of 2020 I started producing video devotions to go with my artwork. This gives me an opportunity to make the message clear, show how the meaning of the art comes from God’s word, and give someone who displays my art the resources to share that message with others.

I make some of my art available for sale, but I also give some away. One way I do this is by making PDFs available for people to download and print for themselves to display in their home or office. Another way is through what I call Hope Drops. This is where I drop handmade prints around Oklahoma City and surrounding towns for people to discover. I also hold online giveaways through social media. The goal of Christ Life Art is not to grow an art business, but to share a message. If something I create helps point someone to Christ, I want them to have access to it.

You can see the collection of my work in the Art Gallery.

Made for Glory

There is great power in sharing our stories. There is a need for people to know they are not alone in their struggles and trails, and to hear of how God has seen others through their valleys. When we allow others to hear what God has done for us, it takes the truth of God’s word and gives it flesh and bones. It is no longer just a passage we read and believe, but we have seen God’s faithfulness to that promise in another and it increases our faith as we see God’s glory on display in their lives.

This podcast is focused on finding and sharing these kids of stories. Testimonies of how God has shaped a person through trails to enjoy God more deeply and reflect him more clearly.

Made for Glory is available on Spotify, Apple, Overcast, and Google Podcasts. You can also browse episodes here.

The Mark

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. - Matthew 22:37

The logo mark for Christ Life Art was created to represent the life of one who lives for God’s glory. The cross signifies Christ at the center of our lives, and then the marks around it are the heart, soul, and mind revolving around Christ.

The Maker

As a creator, I tend to be a jack of all trades. I’ve done drawing, pen and ink, pottery, digital art, graphic design, wood turning, and now primarily working in printmaking and podcasting. In my little home studio, I invest any free time I can find in creating things that point people to Christ.

I’m a Louisiana native, now living in Oklahoma City, OK, with my wife, two kids, and our crazy pup.
